Heavy ion collisions in the energy region from $0.1A$ to $2A$ GeV are expected to yield information on the Nuclear Equation of State at baryon densities between roughly 1/3 and 3 times the saturation density of cold nuclei. Due to the complexities of heavy ion collision dynamics, the extraction of fundamental nuclear physics from the observables by comparisons with transport model simulations requires a rather complete and accurate systematics of data.
