AB - The cover shows the newly constructed superconducting GLAD magnet at it’s testing site in Cave-C. The magnet has been constructed as a French-German In-kind contribution and succesfully been delivered to GSI premises in November 2015. The large gap dipole is currently being prepared for commissioning in the course of this year and will be fully tested in first experiments starting from 2018 on. These experiments, carried out by the R³B collaboration, as part of the NUSTAR programme, will benefit from the higher field integral, which will allow to use the highest beam energies for exotic beams already at the present facility. Once the high energy cave at FAIR behind the SuperFRS will become available, the magnet will be moved to its final destination an form the heart of the R3B experiment. GLAD photograph by G.
