000284836 680__ $$aStefan Treue investigates the role of attention in processing visual motion information. The focus of this project will be to investigate the functional role of dorsal medio-superior temporal area (MSTd) in the visual cortex of rhesus monkeys in the flow of information from primary visual cortex to higher non-sensory areas in the frontal lobe. This will be achieved by detailed investigations of the sensory and attentional aspects of the response properties of MSTd, particularly to linear and spiral motion patterns and in terms of the receptive field structure. In the later phase of this project the interactions of MSTd with the frontal eye field (FEF) and the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) will be investigated in an effort to understand the source and control of attentional modulations in MSTd.
