Abstract: The plasma physics department of GSI organized a workshop on plasma physics at FAIR on June 21th-23th 2017. The Extreme Matter Institute (EMMI) sponsored the workshop. Participation from the international plasma physics community was solicited to discuss topics in plasma physics and high energy density science with a view to planning the plasma physics science program for phase "0" at FAIR. A summary of the main topics of the meeting follows.
