Abstract: In this contribution we will discuss the production of $\Sigma^{0}$ baryons in Ag+Ag collisions at $1.58 \, A\text{GeV}$ beam energy measured by HADES. The experimental upgrade with an electromagnetic calorimeter enables a clear reconstruction of the $\Sigma^{0}$. The first sub-threshold $\Sigma^{0}$ production in A+A collisions is compared to available $p+p$ data as well as transport calculations and statistical hadronisation models.
