%X In this contribution we will discuss the production of Σ<sup>0</sup> baryons in Ag+Ag collisions at 1.58  A\textGeV beam energy measured by HADES. The experimental upgrade with an electromagnetic calorimeter enables a clear reconstruction of the Σ<sup>0</sup>. The first sub-threshold Σ<sup>0</sup> production in A+A collisions is compared to available p+p data as well as transport calculations and statistical hadronisation models.
