Abstract: Nuclear structure effects such as shape-transition are observed as sudden changes in the mean-square charge radii, low-lying excitation energies and the binding energies evolution. The latter is executable by the direct mass measurements. The deformation in the krypton isotopic chain has been an open question for decades and this work presents the direct mass measurement of 96-98Kr isotopes. The isotopes of interest have been produced at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. The mass measurements were performed by use of the versatile ISOLTRAP mass spectrometer. The multi-reflection time of flight and the time of flight ion cyclotron resonance techniques were applied for the mass determination. The mass of 98Kr isotope was determined for the first time. Results from the state of the art mean-field and beyond mean-field approaches are compared to the experimental binding energy trends.
